- Bio:
- Bill Warner is an inventor, entrepreneur, and longtime Boston-area resident. He has started two high-tech companies in Massachusetts: Avid Technology (NASDAQ: AVID) and Wildfire Communications. Mr. Warner won an Emmy in 1993 for the development of the Avid Media Composer. In 1995 he won an Engineering and Scientific award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In 1999, the Academy presented Avid with the Oscar® for its success in transforming the editing process in filmmaking. Based on his experiences with Avid and Wildfire and in the twelve years following, Bill is now working on a book for entrepreneurs, called Intention and Invention. The book explores what drives us to invent, and how crucial it is that we understand that original motivation, the primary intention, behind our invention. Bill's premise is that to succeed in our inventions, we must follow our intentions. We must follow our heart, even for inventions that require so much intense thought from our head. Working with the new Executive Director of MassTLC, Tom Hopcroft, Bill is the Co-Chair of the MassTLC Innovation 2009 Conference. Mr. Warner has a BSEE from MIT, 1980. He is married and has a thirteen-year-old son, Lucas. He is an avid photographer, and grew up in Millburn, NJ.
